A brushless DC motor, on the other hand, has no physical contact between stationary and rotating components after installation which means it does not suffer from wear issues caused by friction or contact fatigue. This also means that it tends to outperform brushed motors in both torque and speed.
Brushless DC Motor – How it Works
A brushless dc motor in general works by using an inverter to control the speed and torque of a three-phase AC input. This input is used to create a rotating magnetic field in the stator that is then redirected into another stationary magnetic field by a rotor. The rotor’s magnetic field interacts with that of the stator to induce a current into the armature which causes it to rotate.
The rotating armature of this motor contains permanent magnets which are rotated by the magnetic field created by the stator. This rotational motion is used to turn input power into additional electrical power that can be directed elsewhere for use.
